Leaving
behind the clam-shell design that has characterized
the Stylus series for such a long time, the Olympus
Stylus 500 Digital (Mju 500 Digital
in UK) goes back to a simpler flat-surface body
design with a very cool integrated circular lens
barrier first introduced in the Stylus Verve.
The Stylus 500 maintains its all-weather rating
in a durable lightweight metal body with rubber
gaskets throughout the interior to protect against
rain, sleet, snow or sand.
Now
at 5 megapixel resolution, the Stylus 500 provides
23 easy-to-use shooting modes, including two new
underwater shooting modes. A new Album Function
allows the Stylus 500 to also function as a photo
album, with 12 individual albums of 100 images
each, stored on an xD-Picture Card. PictBridge
technology enables photos to be printed directly
from the Stylus 500 to any PictBridge-enabled
printer.
The
Olympus Stylus 500 Digital should appeal
to point-and-shoot photographers desiring a compact,
tough, all-weather digital camera with the famous
ease-of-use of the Stylus line of cameras.
