Gone is the side-swinging mirror box and flat-top
Porro viewfinder, replaced by a more traditional
Penta Mirror. The Olympus E-500 is also smaller
and lighter than the E-300, and comes with an
extra large 2.5 in. LCD monitor with the 160°
wide viewing angle. The built-in flash still slides
front and up to prevent casting a shadow of the
lens, plus you can still use it in tandem with
an external flash. The viewfinder is clear with
exposure info on the right side, outside the image
area. It accepts dual xD-Picture Card as well
as the industry-standard CompactFlash (CF) cards.
Besides the traditional Olympus Digital ESP metering,
center-weighted average metering, and spot metering,there
are two new metering systems: highlight spot metering
(for clean, true whites with detail), and shadow
spot metering (for rich blacks with detail).
