The Olympus E-620 DSLR is the world's smallest and lightest image-stabilized DSLR. It features 12.3MP resolution on a Four-Thirds System Live MOS Sensor, in-body Image Stabilization, and a large 2.7-in. (230,000 dots) 270-degree swivel Live View LCD with a wide viewing angle.
The E-620 provides
full exposure flexibility for the advanced photographer
as well as 13 Scene-Select Modes (including two new underwater modes) for the beginner photographer.
It has dual memory card slots and accepts the
xD-Picture Card, Microdrive and CompactFlash Type I &
II (UDMA).
Being part of the Olympus E-System, the E-620 is compatible with the large and growing
range of Olympus E-System accessories, including
the full line-up of Zuiko Digital Specific lenses
and flashes. However, do note that not all lenses are totally compatible with the Live View system (currently only the 25mm f2.8, 14-42mm f3.5-5.6, 40-150mm f4.0-5.6, 9-18mm f4.0-5.6, and 14-54mm f2.8-3.5II are compatible with the Contrast-Detect AF used in Live View).
The mechanical Sensor-shift Image Stabilization is built-in so it is active with all Four-Thirds compatible lenses. Shadow Adjustment retains detail in the shadows in extreme contrast shots and works automatically when using Face Detection Mode, Live View and in Scene-Select Modes. Face Detection works even with moving subjects, tracks up to eight (8) faces within the image area and automatically optimizes exposure for portrait pictures.
Olympus’ proven Dust Reduction System vibrates the Supersonic Wave Filter™ everytime you turn on the camera at an amazing 30,000 times per second to dislodge dust.
Phase Detection AF uses 7-point twin AF for lighting autofocus response, even in low-light situations. Live View AF uses 11 dedicated AF points for fast and precise autofocus.
Art Filters adds a new dimension to your photography allowing you to replicate dramatic effects right in the camera using the Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale and Light Color, Grainy Film, Light Tone and Pin Hole Camera filters. In addition, Multiple Exposure Shooting allows you to shoot two shots on the same frame, use a saved shot and then shoot another, or to capture up to 3 shots separately and combine them in the camera later.
The E-620 is compatible with the Olympus FL-50R and FL-36R wireless electronic flashes that are designed exclusively for digital photography. Gain remote control of up to 200 flashes divided into as many as 3 groups for easy camera controlled wireless flash, without needing an external commander unit.
A nice touch are the illuminated buttons that make it easier to quickly find the settings you want in low light.
Optional accesories include the Underwater case PT-E06, Power Battery Holder HLD-5 (holds two BLS-1 lithium ion batteries), Flash Bracket FL-BK04, and Twin Flash Bracket FL-BKM03.
The Olympus E-620 is an easy-to-use DSLR for beginners and serious photographers alike. It's compact dimensions mean that you don't have to lug a heavy and large DSLR around anymore. For those who like the idea of an in-camera image stabilization, Live View using Contrast-Detection AF (just like on a compact P&S) and wireless multi-flash photography, check out the E-620.
