Photoxels Editor's Choice 2005 Award

Category: Serious Amateur

The Olympus Camedia C-5500 Sport Zoom features 5x optical zoom (38-190mm, 35 mm equivalent), which is longer than the average 3x. It has a 5.1MP resolution (on a 1/1.8 in.) image sensor, and a large 2.0 in. LCD monitor (110K resolution).

Macro can be as close as 2 cm (0.7 in.), and an Autofocus (AF) Target Selection function enables you to choose from 143 AF target zones to focus on virtually any area on the screen without having to reframe your shot.

An interesting feature is an Anti-shake function that is available only in Movie mode that helps to reduce camera shake when recording movies for clear results.

The Olympus C-5500 is PictBridge-compatible so you can easily make prints of your images via a direct connection to any PictBridge-enabled printer.

With full exposure flexibility, including 10 Scene Modes, the Olympus Camedia C-5500 Sport Zoom should appeal to both beginner and serious amateur photographers who desire a digital camera with a longer than average zoom lens, fast operation and excellent image quality.
