Housed in a rugged, lightweight and compact magnesium-alloy
body, the Nikon Coolpix 8700 is the flagship
of the Coolpix models. It combines 8 megapixels
resolution with a 8x optical zoom, and sports
the professional shooting capabilities advanced
amateur photographers look for.
The Coolpix 8700 is ergonomic in its handling
and feel, with a 1.8-in. Vari-angle LCD monitor
that allows shooting in almost any angle, an Electronic
Viewfinder (EVF) with 235,000 pixels resolution,
and dedicated control buttons for quick selection
of functions.
Image quality is excellent, with a matrix metering
that works well in all situations, the capability
to shoot in RAW file format, macro as close as
3 cm (1.2 in.), and five focus areas for auto
focus flexibility.
Other notable features: default program shift,
excellent auto white balance, 10 min Bulb mode,
live histogram, and grid lines.
The Nikon Coolpix 8700 will appeal to advanced
amateur photographers looking for a compact digital
camera with professional features. See if you
