The Nikon Coolpix 8700 is a Coolpix 5400
on steroids. It retains basically the main features
of the 5400 and adds a larger 2/3 in. image sensor
with 8 megapixels resolution, a 8x optical zoom,
and an AF-assist illuminator.
The Coolpix 8700 comes equipped with a 1.8 in.
Vari-angle LCD monitor (134K pixels resolution)
and high-resolution EVF (Electronic Viewfinder)
at 235,000 pixels resolution. The magnesium alloy
body is compact and lightweight, with a secure,
comfortable grip for stability during shooting.
