The Nikon Coolpix S500 features 7.1MP resolution and 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens with optical vibration reduction in a stainless steel body. It is slim enough to fit into a pocket or a purse.

The large 2.5-in. LCD monitor has a high 230,000 pixels resolution. Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, D-Lighting, One-Touch Portrait button and 15 Scene Modes help turn challenging situations into easy ones.

The Nikon Coolpix S500 should appeal to point-and-shoot photographers desiring a compact digital camera with image stabilization.

For about US $50 less, the Nikon S200 lacks the optical Vibration Reduction.
