The Nikon Coolpix S5 is a compact all-metal digital camera with a sleek and Wave Design that fits easily into a pocket or a purse. It has 6MP resolution, a 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor ED lens, an extra large and bright 2.5-in. LCD monitor with a high 230,000 pixels resolution and 170 degree wide viewing angle.

The Nikon S5 accepts the Secure Digital (SD) card and has about 21MB of Internal Memory. New is a One-Touch Portrait Button that automatically activates In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and Face-Priority AF; it also automatically activates D-Lighting in Playback to eliminate overly dark pictures.

Also new is Pictmotion that creates in-camera slide shows with music. Included in the box is a rechargeable EN-EL8 battery (that takes up to 210 pictures on a single charge) and Docking Station. A Rotary Multi-Selector Button makes feature selection fast and easy.

The Nikon Coolpix S5 should appeal to point-and-shoot photographers desiring an easy-to-use compact digital camera -- available in Silver, Blue or Red.

For a wireless alternative, the Nikon Coolpix S6 is similar to the S5 but has a slightly larger 3.0-in. LCD and built-in WiFi capability for wireless transfer and printing -- no more messy wires.
