Nikon P90 Review

Review Date: Apr 13, 2009

Nikon Coolpix P90

Mouseover image for back view

Category: Beginner Amateur

The Nikon Coolpix P90 has 12.1MP resolution, an amazing 24x wide-angle optical Zoom-Nikkor lens (26-624mm equiv.) and an extra large 3.0 in. (230K dots) Vari-angle LCD monitor which is tiltable 45° downward and 90° upward. Sensor-shift Image Stabilization helps to reduce blur due to camera shake at long tele.

The P90 provides full exposure control with PASM and Scene Modes with Scene Auto Selector. It has an electronic viewfinder (EVF).

D-Lighting function compensates for underexposed images or insufficient flash by automatically adding light and detail to selected shots where needed -- without affecting properly exposed areas. A Smart Portrait System uses Face-priority AF, Smile Timer, Blink Warning, Blink Proof and In-Camera Red-Eye Fix for capuring great portraits. Pre-shooting Cache option enables recording up to 10 frames just before releasing the shutter to capture the right moment.

The Nikon Coolpix P90 should appeal to photographers who desire a full featured wide-angle ultra zoom high performance digital camera with image stabilization.
