Nikon Coolpix P50

Nikon Coolpix P50
Mouseover image for back view

Category: Serious Amateur

The Nikon Coolpix P50 has 8.1MP resolution, a 3.6x wide-angle optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and a large 2.4 in. (115K pixels) LCD monitor. The 28mm wide-angle is perfect for wide landscape and large group shots.

It lacks optical image stabilization, but includes an electronic version of Vibration Reduction to help reduce blur due to camera shake.

The Nikon P50 provides Programmed Auto, Manual, 15 Scene Modes and 5 different movie modes.

Nikon's innovative D-Lighting function compensates for underexposed images or insufficient flash by automatically adding light and detail to selected shots where needed -- without affecting properly exposed areas. Nikon's In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically fixes most typical occurrences of red-eye. Face-Priority AF automatically finds and focuses on people’s faces to ensure clear, crisp focus on people's faces.

The Nikon P50 uses two AA-sized batteries.

The Nikon Coolpix P50 should appeal to entry-level amateur photographers who desire an easy-to-use digital camera with a wide-angle lens for large group and wide landscape shots.
