Nikon Coolpix P2 Wi-Fi

Nikon Coolpix P2
Mouseover image for back view

Category: Beginner

The Nikon Coolpix P2 has 5.1MP resolution, a 3.5x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and an extra large 2.5 in. LCD monitor. It also has the distinction of being the first consumer Wi-Fi digital camera to market, allowing wireless image transfer, wireless live transfer (moves images to the computer as they are taken) and wireless direct print to any PictBridge-compatible USB either connected to the computer or direct to the printer (no computer needed) through the use of the optional Wireless Printer Adapter PD-10.

The Nikon P2 features a shutter speed range of 8-1/2,000 sec., and has Advanced Scene Modes, available in 11 of the 16 Scene Modes and which provide a 3-level selection for enhanced creativity and control to customize the final image.

A 10-step Aperture Priority Mode offers greater creative control, allowing you to select one of 10 depth-of-field settings (in 1/3 EV increments) with Live Histogram.

Nikon's innovative D-Lighting function compensates for exposure problems by adding light and detail to dark areas of shots, while keeping brighter areas just as they are. Nikon's In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically does away with red eyes in-camera. And Nikon exclusive BSS (Best Shot Selector) selects and saves the best of a series of several shots.

The Nikon P2 incorporates the Nikon Face Priority AF* function that uses advanced biometric facial recognition technology to detect a person's face at typical portrait taking distances, then automatically focuses on the face area.

* Face recognition capability may be limited depending on the shooting conditions.

The Nikon Coolpix P2 should appeal to point-and-shoot and beginner photographers desiring an easy-to-use wireless digital camera. For a higher 8MP resolution, check out the Nikon P1.
