The Nikon Coolpix L12 is part of Nikon's 'Life' series of compact digital cameras. It features 7.1MP resolution, a 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens, and a large 2.5-in. LCD monitor.

In addition, the Nikon L12 features true image stabilization (optical lens shift), called Vibration Reduction, that minimizes blurred shots caused by camera shake.

Nikon In-Camera Innovations in the Coolpix L12: In-Camera Red-Eye Fix(TM) automatically fixes most instances of red-eye in the camera; Face-Priority AF is Nikon's face-finding technology that automatically focuses on faces; and, D-Lighting rescues dark or backlit images by improving brightness and detail where needed.

The Nikon L12 accepts the Secure Digital (SD/SDHC) card and has about 21MB of Internal Memory.

The Nikon Coolpix L12 should appeal to budget-conscious point-and-shoot photographers desiring an easy-to-use compact digital camera with true image stabilization.

For about US $50 less, the Coolpix L11 offers 6.0MP resolution, a 2.4-in. LCD and no image stabilization.

For about US $80 less, the Coolpix L10 offers 5.0MP resolution, a 2.0-in. LCD and no image stabilization.
