Nikon D40x DSLR

Nikon D40x
Mouseover image for back view

Category: Family dSLR

The Nikon D40x digital SLR is targetted squarely to those who desire the image quality that is only possible with a dSLR but who nevertheless wants an intuitive, easy and worry-free digital camera. The D40x is Nikon's lightest and most compact DSLR ever with 10.2 MP for large prints, a large 2.5-in. LCD monitor for image playback, a large and bright viewfinder and a long-life rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can take approx. 520 images/charge. There is even an optional remote Wireless Remote Control.

Like the D40 which it replaces, the D40x provides outstanding image quality on a large APS-sized image sensor.

Major features of the Nikon D40x:

  • 10.2-effective-megapixel Nikon DX Format CCD imaging sensor
  • The lightest, most compact Nikon digital SLR ever
  • Fast 0.18 sec. startup, no practical shutter lag, continuous 3fps
  • 2.5-Inch, 230,000-Dot Color LCD Monitor with 170-Degree Wide-Angle Viewing
  • Built-in Speedlight with i-TTL Automatic Flash Control
  • 8 Digital-Vari Program Automatic Shooting Modes
  • In-Camera Image Editing
  • New Advanced HELP Menu System with Assist Images
  • Nikon 3D Color Matrix Metering II
  • Fast, Accurate 3-Area Autofocus
  • Image Optimization Options
  • Up to 520 Images per Battery Charge

The Nikon D40x digital SLR falls into our new "Family dSLR" category -- a category that targets families who desire the SLR experience and image quality combined with point-and-shoot ease-of-use.
