Photoxels Editor's Choice 2006 Nikon D200 wins DIWA Gold Award Nikon D200 wins DIWA Platinum Award

Category: Prosumer - Advanced Amateur

The Nikon D200 digital SLR is closer to the award winning D2X than the D100 in features and performance, but keeps the D100's compact design. It features 10.2 MP resolution on an APS-sized CCD image sensor, shoots up to 5fps, and has a long-lasting battery life of 1800 images.

Other key features:

  • 2.5 in. LCD monitor with wide-angle viewing
  • Durable magnesium alloy body
  • 11-Area Multi-CAM AF System
  • 1,005-Pixel 3D Color Matrix Metering II

It improves on the D100 with the tough magnesium alloy body, higher MP resolution, lower starting ISO of 100, a faster shutter speed of 1/8,000 sec., fast 5fps Continuous Shooting, a larger 2.5 in LCD monitor, USB 2.0 High Speed, and availability of GPS and Wireless.

The Nikon D200 digital SLR is undoutedly one of the hottest digital camera introduction to date. It is the first professional affordable dSLR introduced. Those who are tired of hauling large and heavy bodies will appreciate the compact design, yet professional handling and feel, as well as excellent image quality.
