The Nikon Coolpix 7900 is housed in a
stylish metal body that is both durable and easy
to grip, and with an elegant black finish.
The Nikon 7900 features a 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor
ED lens that can focus as close as 4 cm (1.6 in.),
shutter speed range of 4-1/2,000 sec., and has
scene modes to simplify shooting in a range of
common situations.
A new Underwater Scene Mode gives true-to-life
colour when snorkeling or scuba diving. Intended
for use with the optional Waterproof Case WP-CP4.
Nikon's innovative D-Lighting function compensates
for exposure problems by adding light and detail
to dark areas of shots, while keeping brighter
areas just as they are. Nikon's In-Camera Red-Eye
Fix automatically does away with red eyes in-camera.
A handy Blur Warning alerts you immediately whenever
an image is blurred due to camera movement so
you can recompose and shoot again. And Nikon exclusive
BSS (Best Shot Selector) selects and saves the
best of a series of several shots.
New is the Nikon Face Priority AF* function
that uses advanced biometric facial recognition
technology to detect a person's face at typical
portrait taking distances, then automatically
focuses on the face area.
* Face recognition capability may be limited
depending on the shooting conditions.
The Nikon Coolpix 7900 (and the 5.1MP
Nikon 5900) should appeal to point-and-shoot
photographers.
