Olympus E30 Review @ DigitalCameraInfo

Olympus E30DigitalCameraInfo has posted their review of the Olympus E30, a semipro DSLR with "unacceptable noise levels and dynamic range." The Olympus E30 is vertically targeted to the artist photographers with six Art Filters, 12.3MP resolution high-speed Live-MOS sensor, multiple exposures, Digital Level Sensor, and swivel 2.7-in. LCD (230K dots), Face Detection, Shadow Adjustment Technology, Wireless Flash System, and Dust Reduction Technology.

Editor's note: This is a very interesting review because it comes to a diametrically opposite conclusion [though not necessarily test results] to the one DPReview did a few days ago where they concluded that the E-30 produces "superb [image quality], with excellent dynamic range and a slightly more subtle approach to color and contrast than we're used to from Olympus, giving results that look great" out of the box. Do you see why we encourage you to always "get a second opinion" and then make up your own mind? Like the saying goes, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" -- behold!

Canon SX1 IS Review @ DPReview

Canon PowerShot SX1 ISDPReview has posted their review of the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS [Specs], an ultra zoom digital camera with its 10MP resolution (1/2.3-in. CMOS), 20x wide-angle optical zoom (28-560mm equiv.), optical image stabilization, 2.8-in. Vari-angle LCD (230K dots), HD movie (1920x1080) @ 30fps, PASM modes, Intelligent Contrast Correction, Face-Detection, Face-Detection Self-timer and RAW file format. According to DPReview, the SX1 IS "cannot deliver on the promise of the CMOS sensor" and image quality is unfortunately "slightly worse [than on] the much cheaper SX10 IS" with high ISO noise being the main problem.
