The ultra-zoom market is heating up with the
introduction of the Minolta DiMAGE Z1.
It features 3.2 megapixels resolution and 10x
optical zoom, equivalent to a 38 - 380mm 35mm
camera lens. Those who loves to take wide-angle
landscapes will be happy to know that an optional
0.75X wide-converter increases the lens' angle
of view to approximately 28mm. Macro is at 4 cm
(1.7 in.), shutter speed ranges from 4-1,1000
sec. in Programmed AE mode (up to 15 sec. in Shutter
Priority and Manual modes), and maximum aperture
is F2.8.
The DiMAGE Z1 has a distinctly futuristic look,
has fast operations, and provides flexible exposure
control. Those who wear glasses will welcome the
diopter control on the viewfinder, which covers
about 98% of the frame. The 1.5 in. LCD has anti-reflection
coating and covers approx. 100% of the frame.
In fact, with the Switch Finder system, you can
view the LCD monitor either directly or through
the viewfinder (98% frame coverage).
The Z1 is full-featured and will appeal to both
beginner and serious amateur photographers who
desire an ultra zoom digital camera with easy
point-and-shoot as well as flexible exposure control.
