Point-and-Shoot
The pace of progress in digital camera development
is clearly seen in the evolution of the Konica
Minolta ultra compact models, starting from the
first Minolta DiMAGE
Xt that we reviewed back in July 2003 to the
newest Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1, just announced
July 2005. In the space of only 2 short years,
we have come from a 3.2MP (1/2.7 in. CCD) digital
camera to one with 8.0MP (1/1.8 in. CCD) resolution
in a body just slightly wider by 9.5mm.
The Konica Minolta X1 loses the optical viewfinder
and instead has an extra large 2.5 in. LCD monitor
that features a Bright LCD backlight function,
which lets you adjust the LCD brightness as needed
with the simple touch of a button. The LCD monitor
also offers enhanced easy cleaning thanks to a
protective acrylic covering.
Because the lens in the Konica Minolta X1 is
folded inside the body (hence no protruding lens
even with 3x optical zoom), a new Anti-Shake system
has been developed that offers the equivalent
of up to 3 EV to help compensate for camera shake,
and is effective for taking shots in low light
conditions and using slow shutter speeds around
1/6th of a second at the wide-angle focal length.
Optional accessories include: Metal chain neck
strap (NS-DG100), AC Adapter Set, Marine case
(MC-DG1).
The Konica Minolta X1 is available in a variety
of coloured finishes: silver, red and black. For
the ultimate in ultra compact design and performance,
the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1 leads the
way with 8MP resolution and an effective Anti-Shake
system.
