Kodak V610 Dual Lens Review

Category: Point-and-Shoot
The Kodak EasyShare V610 features 6.1
megapixel resolution and a dual lens design we
first saw on the EasyShare V570. On the Kodak
V610, the lower one is a 38114 mm (35 mm
equiv.) 3.0x optical zoom lens and the upper one
a 130380 mm (35 mm equiv.) 2.9x optical
zoom lens. The camera defaults to the 38mm lens
and you zoom to the longer focal lengths. In fact,
each lens has its own 6MP image sensor.
As we saw on the EasyShare V570, the transition
from one lens to the other is effected by using
digital zoom. So it's debatable if it's a real
10x "optical" zoom coverage. Many consumers
might be willing to trade the slight 114mm to
130mm gap (if they disable digital zoom) for the
benefit of having such a long focal length coverage
on a compact digital camera -- with no lens protrusion
at all, thanks to the use of prism lenses.
Unlike too many digital cameras that give you
a large LCD screen without increasing its resolution,
the Kodak V610 has an extra large 2.8-in. LCD
screen that displays your captured images with
a high 230,000 pixels resolution.
New is embedded BLUETOOTH® Wireless Technology
that provides a simple, convenient way to share
pictures wirelessly between BLUETOOTH® embedded
devices such as mobile phones.
The Kodak EasyShare V610 Dual Lens is
currently the smallest 10x "optical"
zoom digital camera.
