The
Kodak name has been synonymous with easy point-and-shoot
simplicity since the first Brownie came out. The
"You press the button and the camera does
the rest" promise endeared Kodak cameras
to successive generations of families. In some
parts of the world, the term "Kodak"
became synonymous with "camera."
For
many years, Kodak led not only in point-and-shoot
cameras (remember the Instamatics?), but its B&W
and colour films were used by amateur and professional
photographers worldwide and recognized as the
best in faithful colour reproduction.
Some
of the very first consumer digital cameras were
Kodak digital cameras. It invented the world's
first digital camera prototype in 1976 but allowed
other manufacturers to leap frog it. Today, Kodak
is a major player in both the consumer and professional
digital camera market.
Kodak has boldly stated its future is digital
and its digital cameras are once again increasingly
becoming the choice of many amateur photographers.
