Maira Khan is alive today thanks to a pro surfer changing his travel plans at the last minute. James Pribram was supposed to be in Canada that day, but an injured family member meant that he had to change his plans and return to California earlier than expected. Standing on the balcony of his parents’ Laguna Beach home, Pribram watched as Khan was swept to sea by a 6-foot-wave. He jumped to action immediately, has his mom call 911 while he ran, dived and swam to Khan.
