Hasselblad? Check. Dynamic and percussive music like Karlheinz Stockhausen, Miles Davis or Kraftwerk? Check. Paint in fuchsia, teal and lime green? Check. Powerful loudspeakers? Check.

Artist Martin Klimas positions the paint on a scrim over the diaphragm of a loudspeaker. His medium-format Hasselblad is set. Then he turns the volume up to play the percussive music. The vibration of the speaker sends the paint aloft and the Hasselblad captures snapshots after snapshots. Klimas spent six months and about 1,000 shots to produce the final images. “What does music look like?”
