Google To Develop Open Source Linux-Based Operating System

Google has announced that it is developing an open source operating system to run on netbooks. The Google Chrome OS is due next year and is based on the Linux operating system. Google’s goal is allow popular applications such as word processing and spreadsheet to run on browsers (simple versions of both already run on Google Chrome).
