The Canon PowerShot Pro1 is another compact
digital camera with excellent image quality, low
noise, and a host of professional features.
The Canon Pro1 has 7x optical wide-angle zoom
(28-200 mm, 35mm format equivalent) with a fast
max. aperture of F2.4, the ability to take 4-5
RAW images in rapid succession (the fastest of
the 8MP prosumer models), built-in Neutral Density
(ND) filter, and a very quiet zoom motor, a 2
in. Vari-angle LCD, and 15 sec. slow shutter speed.
The one feature that we would like to see the
Canon Pro1 improve on is in a lower shutter lag.
Though it is slightly better than average, all
of the other prosumer digital cameras we have
featured in this guide have much much faster
shutter and AF response.
The Canon PowerShot Pro1 comes close to
my perfect digital camera, since I like its feature
set and compact size. A faster shutter response
would certainly have earned it an Editor's Choice.
