The Fujifilm FinePix S7000 replaces the
popular S602Z and uses Fujifilm's new 4th Generation
Super CCD HR image sensor. It has a number of
improvements that should be well received by advanced
amateur photographers and make it a worthy replacement
for the S602Z.
The S7000 features 6.3 megapixels resolution
and a 6x optical zoom Super EBC Fujinon lens.
Maximum aperture is F2.8 and shutter speed ranges
from 15 sec. to an ultra fast 1/10,000 sec. (in
Manual mode only). It has a high resolution EVF
(electronic viewfinder) at 235,000 pixels, dual
media slots for xD-Picture Card as well as IBM
MicroDrive, a manual focus / zooming adjustment
lens ring, a hot shoe mount, and the full range
of exposure flexibility.
Interestingly, the S7000 also promises ISO 800
at 1, 2 and 3 megapixels resolution with minimal
noise. It supports CCD-RAW and JPEG file formats
and connects to a computer via USB 2. Another
nod toward popular request is the use of 4 AA
alkaline batteries as its power source. A live
histogram can be displayed during Recording mode.
The FinePix S7000 should appeal to advanced amateur
- prosumer photographers.
