THE FUJIFILM FINEPIX S8100fd INCORPORATES AN 18X WIDE-ANGLE OPTICAL ZOOM in a relatively compact form. The 27mm (35mm equiv.) wide-angle focal length is perfect for large group and wide landscape shots. The 486mm (35mm equiv.) super-telephoto brings far subjects close. CCD-shift image stabilization ensures that camera shake is effectively countered, especially at the extremely long focal lengths.
In fact, Dual Image Stabilization combines the CCD-shift Mechanical Stabilization with Fuji’s Picture Stabilization. Picture Stabilization automatically adjusts shutter speed and sensitivity
(up to ISO 1600) to prevent blur. Together Dual IS Mode helps reduce blur caused by camera shake and subject movement.
The FinePix S8100fd features 10MP resolution on a 1/ 2.3-inch CCD image sensor. At full resolution (10 megapixels),
sensitivity is limited to a maximum ISO 1600. At ISO 6400/3200, resolution is limited to a maximum 5 megapixels.
Not sure whether to use flash or not? A convenient Natural Light & with Flash mode takes the same scene with and without flash with a
single press of the shutter. The resulting shots can be displayed
side-by-side for comparison and selection.
Continuous shooting is blazingly fast at 6.8fps at 5M or 13.5fps at 3M, for a maximum of 33 frames. Other features include Face Detection, automatic Red-Eye Removal, Zoom Bracketing, Micro Thumbnail View, and Intelligent Flash. It accepts xD-Picture
Card as well as Secure Digital (SD/SDHC) memory cards and uses 4 AA batteries.
The Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd provides photographic control with PASM functions and will
therefore appeal to beginner as well as serious photographers desiring a wide-angle ultra zoom with image stabilization and full exposure flexibility.
If you desire a more affordable long zoom, consider the FinePix S1000fd, with no image stabilization (and some features less than on the S8100fd) for about US $150 less.
