It is Fujifilm's first ultra zoom digital camera with image stabilization. The image stabilization is CCD-shift and should be useful to stabilize the 18x wide-angle optical zoom (27-486mm, 35mm equiv.).
Dual Image Stabilization combines the CCD-shift Mechanical Stabilization with Fuji’s Picture Stabilization to help reduce blur caused by camera shake and subject movement.
A new Face Detection 2.0 technology can now recognize faces even from the side and adds automatic Red-Eye Removal. Movie recording is 640 x 480 pixels at 30 frames/sec
with monaural sound. A new i-Flash system avoids
washed out pictures by outputting only the right
amount of light.
The Fujifilm S8000fd provides full photographic control with PASM functions. It accepts xD-Picture
Card as well as Secure Digital (SD/SDHC) memory cards. It is housed in a compact SLR-styled chassis and uses 4 AA batteries.
