EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This Fujifilm FinePix F800EXR Review is based on a production model. All sample images are unretouched, except where specified.

The Fujifilm FinePix F800EXR is a superzoom that packs a 20x [25-500mm equiv.] wide-angle optical zoom into a compact and light pocketable body.

It features 16 megapixel resolution and image quality is very good at ISO 100 and is usable up to ISO 400. The FinePix F800EXR offers the ability to transfer high quality images directly to smartphones and tablets (though not to your PC, which requires the USB cable), allowing users to post photos wirelessly to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social networking sites quickly.

The sensor-shift image stabilization works well, though hand holding at maximum 500mm focal length proves challenging; a tripod or stable surface is recommended at the long focal lengths.

The EXR mode works well, allowing you to optimize the image sensor to capture an image according to the scene: High Resolution, Wide Dynamic Range or High Sensitivity & Low Noise. We like the fact that you can just set the camera to “EXR Auto” and it will automatically recognize the scene and switch to the correct image sensor mode.

You can now capture Full HD 1080p movies 1920×1080 pixels at 30fps with stereo sound and enjoy your pictures in High Definition on a PC or HD ready television (an optional HDMI cable is required).

There are six Advanced Filter effects to add creative special effects. You can see the filters’ special effects right on the LCD screen before you take the picture.

The Fujifilm F800EXR is a beautiful camera and intuitive in use, both for the point-and-shoot and more advanced photographers. It is fine for travel photography and as a casual take-anywhere digital camera.
