Photoxels Editor's Choice 2009 - Compact Ultra Zoom
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This
Fujifilm FinePix F70EXR Review is based on a production
model. All sample images are unretouched, except
where specified.

The Fujifilm FinePix F70EXR is billed as the world's slimmest 10x optical zoom digital camera at only 22.7mm (0.9 in.) thin. The lens retracts into the body and the streamlined design means you can easily slip this camera right into your trousers pocket. Part of the "EXR" family, the F70EXR offers the ability to capture images with a wide dynamic range. Add a satisfying 27mm wide-angle lens, 10x optical zoom, effective sensor-shift image stabilization, low light capability only like Fujifilm's cameras have, lots of intelligent auto modes, and you have a digital camera that takes great pictures effortlessly.
Leave the camera on EXR AUTO and not only will it automatically select the appropriate scene mode, but it will also automatically switch between the three EXR sensor modes: it will decide whether to capture a picture in full 10M detail when the lighting is good, switch to 5M and capture low noise images in low light situations, or ensure that detail in both shadows and highlights is preserved in a 5M picture. Automatic scene recognition and automatic sensor switching means you can expect every shot to be optimized for the scene.
The Fujifilm FinePix F70EXR is a compact take-anywhere ultra zoom digital camera that
will impress by
its excellent image quality, low-light
capability, and the ability to take pictures with a wide dynamic range. Program AE, Aperture-Priority AE, as well as full Manual
mode are available for those who desire more control.
