The Fujifilm FinePix F40fd features 8.3
megapixel resolution on a 1/1.6 in. 6th Generation
Super CCD HR image sensor, a Fujinon 3x optical
zoom lens, and 2nd Generation Real Photo Technology
(RP Processor II) delivering low noise ISO 2000
at full resolution.
This low-noise high-ISO capability means that
you can take pictures indoors in low-light situations
much better than with other digital cameras. To
this effect, the Fujifilm F40fd features a "Picture
Stabilization" setting that will automatically
select a high ISO and fast enough shutter speed
to reduce blur due to camera shake.
New is the ability to accept both xD-Picture
Card and Secure Digital (SD) memory card.
Unlike the F30 and F31fd, the FinePix F40fd has
only Programmed AE shooting mode, and does not
have shutter and aperture priority modes. 15 pre-programmed
scene modes help automate common picture-taking
situations.
Movie recording is 640 x 480 pixels at 30 frames/sec
with monaural sound. A new i-Flash system avoids
washed out pictures by outputting only the right
amount of light.
Thanks to its low-light capabilities, the Fujifilm
FinePix F40fd can take indoors low-light shots
better than other brand digital camera.
If you require Aperture-Priority AE and Shutter-Priority
AE mode, then consider the Fujifilm
F30 (without Face Detection technology) or
the Fujifilm F31fd
(with Face Detection technology).
If you desire a long zoom version of the F40fd,
then consider the Fujifilm
S6000fd, with Face Detection technology
and full exposure flexibility.
