The Fujifilm FinePix F31fd is basically
a FinePix F30 with the addition of Face Detection
technology which can simultaneously detect up
to 10 faces in real time. It still features 6.3
megapixel resolution on a 1/1.7 in. 6th Generation
Super CCD HR image sensor, a Fujinon 3x optical
zoom lens, and 2nd Generation Real Photo Technology
delivering low noise ISO 3200 at full resolution.
This low-noise high-ISO capability means that
you can take pictures indoors in low-light situations
much better than with other digital cameras. To
this effect, the Fujifilm F31fd features a "Picture
Stabilization" setting that will automatically
select a high ISO and fast enough shutter speed
to reduce blur due to camera shake.
The Fujifilm F31fd comes with a Low Light AF
Focusing Assist Lamp to help focusing in low-light
and an extra large 2.5 in. LCD monitor (230,000
pixels) with Anti-Glare Coating and Low Light
Viewability Gain-up Brightness Mode so you can
see and compose in low-light.
The FinePix F31fd has enhanced manual controls
including shutter and aperture priority modes.
15 pre-programmed scene modes help automate common
picture-taking situations.
Movie recording is 640 x 480 pixels at 30 frames/sec
with monaural sound. A new i-Flash system avoids
washed out pictures by outputting only the right
amount of light.
Thanks to its low-light capabilities, the Fujifilm
FinePix F31fd can take indoors low-light shots
better than any other brand digital camera.
If you do not require Aperture-Priority AE and
Shutter-Priority AE mode, then consider the Fujifilm
F40fd at about US$100 less.
If you desire a long zoom version of the F31fd,
then consider the Fujifilm
S6000fd, with Face Detection technology.
