Welcome to the second (October 2002) issue of
Photoxels! Back in mid September, we started the
first installment of our free tutorial.
It's quite hard to teach and pass on one's knowledge,
and so we are struggling a bit in coming up with
a format that we like. So don't be surprised if
you find that section changing often, or if it
takes longer to bring all the installments out.
Design
Why
is it so difficult to come up with an original
design for a digital camera? When we think of
original designs, some brands consistently come
to mind: Olympus and Canon. Though their cameras
look and feel like other cameras, Olympus and
Canon designers have designed in a je-ne-sais-quoi
something that adds personality to their cameras.
In this issue, we highlight cameras with original
designs and superior features with our
OriGenial
Seal of Approval. Take a look at the Canon
G3, Olympus Camedia C-50 Zoom and the Fujifilm
FinePix F601.
What's New
Already, we have added a couple of new sections
to the site. We have added a glossary
of terms, but don't expect to read a precise definition
of photography terms here. In keeping with our
stated objective of being as clear as possible,
we have endeavored to explain terms in a useful
way.
Leica started 35mm photography and it is fitting
that we feature a (very brief) history
of Leica cameras in this issue.
New Cameras
New digital cameras featured are the Nikon Coolpix
4300, the Olympus C-730 Ultra Zoom, the Olympus
C-50 Zoom, and the Canon G3.
Updates
Readers might have noticed a slight change to
our logo: The "P" in Photoxels has now
acquired a more "pixelated" look. If
you are viewing this page in Netscape Navigator
7.0 or IE 5.0 +, you will also notice the Web
Site Icon
that shows up next to the URL in the location
bar.
Finally, we have rewritten the About
section, giving a better idea of what Photoxels
is all about.
