Samsung NX300

The Samsung NX300 sports a new hybrid 20.3MP APS-C CMOS (23.5×15.7 mm) sensor with Contrast AF and embedded Phase Detection AF, a 8.4-cm (3.3-in.) AMOLED display (768k-dot), and Full HD 1080p 1920×1080 Movie. A 18-55mm (27-84mm equiv.) F3.5-5.6 3x optical zoom kit lens with optical image stabilization is included.

Samsung continues to establish itself as a serious player in the Intercheangle Lens Camera (compact mirrorless) category and continues to add new lenses to the NX System. The NX300 is feature-rich and provides all the semi-automatic and manual shooting modes the serious photographer requires.

The NX300 does not have a built-in viewfinder, and Samsung does not provide an external electronic viewfinder (EVF). The NX300 also does not have a built-in flash, but a small external flash is included in the box.

Features advanced photographers will appreciate: RAW file support, PASM shooting modes (with full shutter speed range available), manual zoom ring, manual focus ring (fly-by-wire), and a iFn feature that turns the focus ring into a Function ring.

Samsung GALAXY Camera

Social sharing your favorite photos and videos just got way easier with the Samsung GALAXY Camera. It is a super zoom digital camera featuring 21x optical zoom (23-483mm equiv.), optical image stabilization, 16.3MP resolution, a 4.8-in. LCD, and Wi-Fi. The clincher: it is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which makes the user interface intuitive for those weaned on the latest generation of smart phones.

From the front and top, the Samsung GALAXY Camera looks and handles like a traditional camera with the familiar grip, shutter release button and zoom lever. Look at the back and you’ll quickly find that the Android platform is central to controlling all the features of the camera via the touch screen LCD. The user interface is very pretty, slick and intuitive. The Android OS brings voice control, downloadable apps and easy sharing to social sites.

The huge 4.8-in. LCD is bright and clear. It also means that the camera is big. Though this is basically a point-and-shoot camera, advanced photographers will appreciate the availability of PASM shooting modes.

Samsung EX2F

Samsung positions the EX2F as a Wi-Fi-enabled SMART camera — a high-end compact digital camera with a bright F1.4 ultra wide angle zoom lens (3.3x optical zoom, 24-80mm equiv.), built-in Optical Image Stabilization, a 12.4MP (1/1.7-in.) BSI CMOS sensor, and a 7.6-cm (3.0-in.) swivelling AMOLED display (614k-dot) in a very professional-looking all-black magnesium alloy body.

The F1.4 (W) – F2.7 (T) lens is one of the brightest available and great for low light photography. The 3.0-in. swiveling AMOLED screen allows shooting from pretty much any angle, including those tricky overhead and low-to-the-ground shots. Movie is Full HD 1920x1080p at 30fps with stereo sound.

Features advanced photographers will appreciate: PASM shooting modes, manual focus, EV (Front) Dial and Dual Dial, RAW, and an internal Neutral Density (ND) filter.

F3.5-5.6 3.1x optical zoom kit lens with optical image stabilization is available.

With Built-in Wi-Fi capability, no cable is required to transfer your pictures from camera to PC; you can even automate the process with Auto Backup. You can also link to a Samsung smartphone and use the latter as a remote viewfinder. With Mobile Link, you can display images on devices such as tablets or internet-enabled TV.

Freeze action with a blazing fast 1/4000 sec. (mechanical shutter) or 1/8000 sec. (electronic shutter). Continuous Shooting at 8fps allows you to capture the right moment in an action sequence.

Samsung MV800

Flip touch display. The Samsung MV800 Multi-View is ultra compact and has a unique 3.0-in. (288k-dot) touch-screen Flip-out LCD display that rotates all the way to face forward. This makes taking self-portraits very easy. The LCD can be rotated at any angle up to 180° to make it convenient to take or view pictures. The MV800 features a 16.15MP (1/2.3-in. CCD) sensor, 5x wide-angle optical zoom (26-130mm equiv.), Optical Image Stabilization, and HD 720p Movie 1280×720 at 30fps with monaural sound.

There are lots of fun features. Live Panorama allows you to capture a wide panorama picture simply by pressing the shutter button and sweeping the scene. Magic Frame includes 12 background templates, plus the ability to customize your own. Picture-in-Picture lets you insert one image into another. Smart Filter allows you to express your creativity through 14 artistic effects, including the newly added Water Paint and Cartoon. Funny Face allows you to bend, stretch and manipulate portraits of friends to radically distort facial characteristics for hilarious effects.

There are other practical features that make it easy to capture great shots. I like the Self-shot feature: flip the screen to face forward, touch your face on the screen to activate one touch self-timer and you have 3 seconds to compose your face before the camera snaps the shot.

The 5x wide-angle optical zoom (26-130mm equiv.) is ideal for capturing sweeping landscapes, wide interior shots, large group shots as well as medium telephoto shots such portraits. Though there is no manual mode, Night Shot allows you to manually select a shutter speed from 1sec. to 16 sec. and an aperture of f/3.3 or f/9.4.
