The Canon PowerShot SD300 Digital ELPH
(aka Digital IXUS 40 in the UK) is an ultracompact
JeansPocket
Certified digital camera similar to the Canon
S410 Digital ELPH but using the Secure Digital
(SD) Memory Card instead of CompactFlash (CF)
memory card. Because the SD card is much smaller
than the CF card, the Canon SD300 is slimmer than
the Canon S410.
The Canon SD300 has 4.0 megapixels resolution
(the Canon SD200 has 3.2 MP) on a smaller image
sensor (1/2.5 in.) than the S410 (1/1.8 in.),
3x optical zoom, a F2.8 maximum aperture and a
shutter speed range of 15-1/1,500 sec. There is
a large 2 in. LCD with 118,000 pixels resolution.
You can shoot a clip of 640x480 movie at 30fps
until the SD memory card is full; or shoot 1 min.
clips of 320x240 at 60fps! Take night pictures
with a long shutter speed of 15 sec., and new
Scene Modes automate exposure settings for 6 different
shooting situations.
The Canon SD300 has an AF Assist Illuminator
to aid in obtaining focus in low-light conditions.
