Canon has shrunk the Digital ELPH series into
an ultra thin, ultra compact design in the PowerShot
SD10 Digital ELPH (aka Digital IXUS i
in the UK), accomplishing this feat partly by
opting to use the smaller SecureDigital (SD) storage
media card instead of the larger CompactFlash.
The PowerShot SD10 makes a strong fashion statement
with its availability in 4 different colours.
Canon is targeting the fashion-conscious "couture"
crowd who desires the latest "must-have"
accesory.
The PowerShot SD10 has 4.0 megapixels resolution,
a F2.8 maximum aperture and a shutter speed range
of 15-1/1,500 sec. There is no optical zoom, but
a 5.7 x digital zoom, and super macro mode at
3 cm (1.2 in.). Canon has equipped the PowerShot
SD10 (and all its newer digital cameras, videocams
and printers) with the PictBridge industry standard
so that you can just plug the SD10 to a PictBridge-compatible
printer and print direct without having to go
through a computer first.
You can shoot up to 3 minutes of 320x240 movie,
set the White Balance and exposure compensation
manually, take macro shots as close as 3 cm (1.2
in.), and create panoramas with Stitch Assist
to help you line up the images just right.
We like the Canon PowerShot SD10 Digital ELPH
because of its compact JeansPocket
Certified size, 4.0 megapixels resolution,
autofocus-assist lamp, and ease of use -- which
makes it a perfect point-and-shooter digital camera
to take anywhere. Bring also with you the battery-powered
CP-300 card photo printer and you have your own
mini lab to print "instant" 4x6 in.
pictures to delight family and friends alike.
