The Canon PowerShot S70 replaces the Canon
PowerShot S60, just recently introduced! It is
one of the few consumer digital cameras with a
28mm wide-angle lens and comes in an all-black
body. It features 7.1 megapixels resolution on
a 1/1.8-in. image sensor and a F2.8 max. aperture.
Other specifications are basically the same: a
3.6x wide-angle optical zoom, a fast shutter speed
of 1/2000 sec., and 4 cm (1.6 in.) macro capability.
The Canon S70 has the full complement of exposure
control a serious amateur photographer demands:
Shutter-Priority, Aperture-Priority, Scene Modes
and full Manual mode. The LCD monitor stays at
1.8 in. and the S70 takes CompactFlash Type I
and II.
The Canon S70 has a low-light focus-assist illuminator
to help obtain accurate focus in dim situations.
You can take continuous shots at about 2 frames
per second, and shoot up to 30 sec. of QuickTime
AVI movie at 640x480 size. It takes a Li-on battery
and comes with a battery charger.
Other features:
RAW+JPEG file format is available.
A histogram can be displayed in Playback.
The AF frame can be positioned anywhere on
screen.
Manual focus is available.
Safety Shift function will automatically adjust
your selected settings in Shutter-Priority mode
or Aperture-Priority mode to ensure correct
exposure
PictBridge-compatible
Optional accessories include a Soft Case SC-PS900,
a Wireless Controller WL-DC100, a 2x Teleconverter
TC-DC10 (requires Conversion Lens Adapter LA-DC10),
and a Waterproof Case WP-DC40 (and Waterproof
Case Weight WW-DC1 to prevent the case from floating)
for underwater photography.
The Canon PowerShot S70 is targeted to
serious amateur photographers who demand a digital
camera with all the features they are used to
having and who refuse to compromise with quality
images.
