Canon PowerShot S60

Canon PowerShot S60

Category: Serious Amateur

Canon has upped the ante a bit with the PowerShot S60. The Canon S60 still features 5.0 megapixel resolution on 1/1.8-in. image sensor and a F2.8 max. aperture, but adds a 3.6x wide-angle optical zoom, a slightly faster shutter speed of 1/2000 sec., and a closer 4 cm (1.6 in.) macro capability.

The Canon S60 has the full complement of exposure control a serious amateur photographer demands: Shutter-Priority, Aperture-Priority, Scene Modes and full Manual mode. The LCD monitor stays at 1.8 in. The S60 takes CompactFlash Type I and II.

The Canon S60 has a low-light focus-assist illuminator to help obtain accurate focus in dim situations. You can take continuous shots at about 2 frames per second, and shoot up to 30 sec. of QuickTime AVI movie at 640x480 size. The S60 takes a Li-on battery and comes with a battery charger.

Other features:

  • RAW file format is available.
  • A histogram can be displayed in Playback.
  • The AF frame can be positioned anywhere on screen.
  • Manual focus is available.

The Canon PowerShot S60 is targeted to serious amateur photographers who demand a digital camera with all the features they are used to having and who refuse to compromise with quality images.
