The
Canon PowerShot S500 Digital Elph is an
ultra compact digital camera that gives consistently
excellent quality images. It
continues Canon's successful line of Digital Elphs
with a stylish, well-designed and solidly constructed
take anywhere camera.
The
Canon S500 packs 5 megapixels resolution (while
the S410 has 4MP). It has fast shutter speed to
1/2,000 sec. to freeze action, as well as slow
shutter speed down to 15 sec. for night shots
(shutter speeds of 1-15 sec. are manually selected).
Though it features a "Manual" mode,
this is more akin to Program AE, allowing you
to adjust exposure compensation, ISO, white balance,
a long shutter speed, and various photo effects.
Otherwise, exposure control is auto.
Other
notable features are a low-light AF-assist illuminator
that allows you to lock focus even in total darkness,
and great movie quality at 640x480 size (limited
to 30 sec. clips until the memory card is full)
with sound.
If
you are a looking for a strictly point-and-shoot
ultra compact digital camera with excellent image
quality, then you should look seriously at the
Canon PowerShot S500 Digital Elph. See if you
