Canon PowerShot G6

 Canon PowerShot G6

Category: Advanced Amateur - Prosumer

The Canon PowerShot G6 receives a redesign that makes it smaller and lighter than the popular PowerShot G5 it replaces. It follows in the good design that characterized the G5, keeping the AF Assist Beam, the swivelling / rotating / tilting LCD monitor, and the LCD Display Panel on top of the body.

The Canon G6 now features 7.1 megapixels resolution, keeps a 4x optical zoom but in a new optical system, a fast (large) F2.0 maximum aperture, Macro as close as 5 cm (2 in.) covering approx. 48 x 36mm (1.9 x 1.4in.), and full exposure flexibility. A Super Macro mode covers approx. 24 x 18mm (0.9 x 0.7in.) in 3 megapixels resolution.

The AF Frame is movable across the screen to permit off-center focusing. RAW File Format is available. A histogram can be displayed in Playback. The camera can even be controlled by PC. The LCD monitor is now 2 in. -- and the lens does not block the viewfinder anymore. The Canon G6 is PictBridge-compatible allowing direct printing from camera to PictBridge-compatible photo printers.

The Canon PowerShot G6 is targeted to advanced amateur photographers who desire total control over the features of their cameras.
