Following
hard on the steps of the hugely popular PowerShot
A70 comes the Canon PowerShot A75.
The PowerShot A75 improves on the A70 in subtle
body design and controls arrangement, as well
as added functionality. Just like the A70 was
before it, the PowerShot A75 is the perfect digital
camera for someone who is not sure which camera
to buy. It is feature-packed, yet is easy to use.
Set it on Auto and let the Canon optics and electronics
do the rest. Want to make sure that the camera
grows with you as you learn more about photography?
The A75 has Shutter-Priority, Aperture-Priority,
12 scene modes, and full Manual mode for total
creative control.
Maximum aperture is a standard F2.8 and shutter
speed ranges from 15-1/2,000 sec., permitting
capturing night scenes as well as freezing fast
action shots. The 105mm equivalent focal length
is perfect for portrait photography: the 3x optical
zoom allows you to stand back and still fill the
frame with a person's face. Or, come in as close
as 2 in. to your subject for real close macro
shots. Plus, shoot expansive panorama shots using
the Stitch-Assist feature.
Improvements
over the A70:
Canon
has added six "Special Scene Modes"
to its previous six Programmed Image Control
Zone, bringing the total scene modes (our generic
term for one-touch exposure setting) to twelve.
Another welcome addition is the dedicated Print/Share
button that allows you to print directly to
any PictBridge-compliant printer at the touch
of a button.
The
LCD monitor is now larger and has more resolution
(1.8 in. at 110K vs. 1.5 in. at 78K).
The
5-point AiAF system has been upgraded to a 9-point
AiAF system.
You
can now display the histogram of an image.
Approximately
15 g have also been shaved off the camera's
weight.
The
Canon PowerShot A75 is our recommended entry level
digital camera for someone just starting out in
photography. Not only can you immediately start
using it out of the box as an automatic point-and-shoot
digital camera, but it is feature-packed and will
grow with you as you learn more about photography.
