The Canon PowerShot SX200 IS features 12.1MP resolution, a 12x wide-angle optical ultra zoom lens (28–336 mm equiv.) with built-in optical image stabilization,
and an extra large 3.0-inch LCD (230K dots).
Face Detection finds and tracks the faces of moving subjects. Exposure, flash and white balance are also set appropriately so that faces exhibit natural skin tones and backgrounds are properly exposed. In addition, a Face Detection Self-timer automatically detects an increase in the number of faces so there's no need to rush in. Intelligent Contrast Correction brightens dark areas in pictures.
Besides full exposure flexibility with Auto, Program, Shutter-Priority, Aperture-Priority and Manual modes, there is also Smart AUTO that intelligently selects the proper settings for the camera based on 18 predefined shooting situations. Blink Detection detects closed eyes in your subject's face, display a "blink warning" icon for 3 seconds, allowing you to re-take the shot before your subject or subjects move on.
Movie can be shot in HD (1280 x 720) @ 30fps for up to 4GB or 29 min. 59 sec. per clip. A Standard Definition (640 x 480) @ 30 fps clip can be up to 4GB or 60 min.
