The Canon PowerShot SD990 IS Digital ELPH
comes with new contours design and a "pure black" or "satiny silver" color. To commemorate the 100 millionth compact digital camera manufactured, Canon created a limited-edition PowerShot SD990 IS Digital ELPH camera in red. As with other Digital ELPH series, it is elegant, stylish and well-built.
[Canon camera naming scheme can sometimes be quite confusing: in Japan and Europe the Canon PowerShot SD990 IS Digital ELPH is known as the Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS.]
The PowerShot SD990 IS has 14.7MP resolution on a 1/1.7-inch image sensor,
3.7x optical zoom (36-133mm) with optical Image Stabilization, a F2.8 maximum aperture, and
a shutter speed range of 15-1/1,600 sec. The large 2.5-in. LCD has 230,000 dots
resolution with a wide viewing angle, scratch-resistant and, anti-reflective coating for easier
on-camera viewing, and Night Display for easier viewing in low light.
A new Face Detection function allows you to select a face to focus on -- and the camera will follow that face in a certain area even if the person moves. Other Face Detection features include Servo AF, Face Self-Timer, and i-Contrast to automatically people's faces.
The SD990 IS is point-and-shoot easy to use with Programmed Auto and 16 easy-to-use special Scene Modes that includes the popular Color Accent, where you choose to retain a single color in your image while other colors turn monochrome. A Quick Shot mode turns off the LCD and lets you use the optical viewfinder to track the subject, providing the shortest lag time.
Movie can be shot at 640 x 480 pixels @ 30fps for a 1 hour or 4GB clip at one time.
The Canon Powershot SD990 IS Digital ELPH is the flagship model in Canon's Digital ELPH
Series and recommended for those who desire a durable, fashionable and high resolution compact,
take-anywhere point-and-shoot digital camera.
