The Canon PowerShot SD980 IS (IXUS 200 IS outside of N.A.) features 12.1MP resolution, a 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens (24–120 mm equiv.) with built-in Optical Image Stabilization,
and a large 3.0-in. touch panel LCD (230K dots).
When shooting, you can choose an AF point, select a shooting mode, operate the flash, set exposure compensation and more. Playback functions are also performed at your touch: switch between images, scroll display, magnify a portion of an image and control movie playback.
With Active Display technology, a quick shake of the camera prompts images to play back, one after the other. When the camera is tilted while advancing the images, the advance speed changes according to the tilt angle. Additionally, by quickly moving the camera forward, you can jump between Focus Checker frames when reviewing still images. Using the same action, you can pause or restart a movie currently playing.
The Canon SD980 IS allows you to record video in high definition (1280 x 720 pixels) @ 30fps for a 4GB clip at one time. An optional mini-HDMI connector allows you to display photos and HD movies from the camera directly to your HDTV.
Smart AUTO makes the Canon SD980 IS easy to use. In addition there are 18 Scene Modes including the ever popular Color Accent, where you choose to retain a single color in your image while other colors turn monochrome.
