Active Display is a fun new feature powered by an accelerometer built into the PowerShot SD970 IS Digital ELPH. When browsing through your images in playback, just give the camera a quick shake to advance or return images one frame at a time. Tilting the camera will activate continuous image advance, and tilting at a further angle will make the images advance more quickly.
Face Detection finds and tracks the faces of moving subjects. Exposure, flash and white balance are also set appropriately so that faces exhibit natural skin tones and backgrounds are properly exposed. In addition, a Face Detection Self-timer automatically detects an increase in the number of faces so there's no need to rush in. Intelligent Contrast Correction brightens dark areas in pictures.
Smart AUTO intelligently selects the proper settings for the camera based on 18 predefined shooting situations. Blink Detection detects closed eyes in your subject's face, display a "blink warning" icon for 3 seconds, allowing you to re-take the shot before your subject or subjects move on.
Movie can be shot in full HD (1280 x 720) @ 30fps for up to 4GB or 29 min. 59 sec. per clip. A Standard Definition (640 x 480) @ 30 fps clip can be up to 4GB or 60 min.
Using Zoom Blur, the camera zooms during exposure to produce a great zoom effec. Creative Light Effect ia a Special Scene mode that changes twinkling light sources in the background of night scenes into stars, hearts or other shapes.
