Canon PowerShot SD300 / SD200

Mouseover image for SD200

Category: Point-and-Shoot

The Canon PowerShot SD300 Digital ELPH (aka Digital IXUS 40 in the UK) is an ultracompact JeansPocket™ Certified digital camera similar to the Canon S410 Digital ELPH but using the Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card instead of CompactFlash (CF) memory card. Because the SD card is much smaller than the CF card, the Canon SD300 is slimmer than the Canon S410.

The Canon SD300 has 4.0 megapixels resolution (the Canon SD200 has 3.2 MP) on a smaller image sensor (1/2.5 in.) than the S410 (1/1.8 in.), 3x optical zoom, a F2.8 maximum aperture and a shutter speed range of 15-1/1,500 sec. There is a large 2 in. LCD with 118,000 pixels resolution.

You can shoot a clip of 640x480 movie at 30fps until the SD memory card is full; or shoot 1 min. clips of 320x240 at 60fps! Take night pictures with a long shutter speed of 15 sec., and new Scene Modes automate exposure settings for 6 different shooting situations.

If you are looking for an ultra-compact, take-anywhere digital camera, check out the Canon Powershot SD300 Digital ELPH with its ultra-slim design, 4MP resolution, large LCD monitor, and fast frame rate movie mode. Or, the Canon Powershot SD200 Digital ELPH at 3.2MP resolution and about $100 less.
