If only beginner photographers would take their time and not think they have to jump to a DSLR right away. First, build the basics, understand exposure, composition, colors,... with a capable compact digital camera like the Canon G11. Then, and only then, decide if a DSLR (with the added size, weight and complexity) is in your future. Agreed.
