The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT / 350D digital
SLR is a high performance digital SLR with 8MP
resolution on an APS-sized CMOS image sensor.
It is slightly smaller and lighter than the EOS
Digital Rebel that it is replacing, while adding
higher resolution, faster opeartion and more creative
control. It is compatible with all of Canon’s
EF lenses including the EF-S lenses and still
retains the sub-$1,000 price point.
A major improvement on the new Canon Digital
Rebel XT is the larger internal buffer that allows
the XT to shoot up to 14 consecutive Large/Fine
(8.0 megapixel) JPEGs, 5 RAW files, or 4 RAW +
Large/Fine JPEGs at a rate of up to 3fps.
Among the new features found on the Canon Digital
Rebel XT are user selectable metering and AF modes
(we can hear the audible sigh of relief among
enthusiasts), flash exposure compensation control,
improved E-TTL II evaluative flash metering and
custom function control. The Canon Digital Rebel
XT incorporates nine of the Custom Functions previously
found on the Canon EOS 20D model.
The Canon Digital Rebel XT allows users to select
locking or tacking AF modes independently, adding
a new dimension of creative control.
The Canon Digital Rebel XT digital SLR accepts
more than 50 Canon EF lenses and the EX-series
Speedlites. Because the Digital Rebel XT is smaller
with a smaller hand grip, those with large hands
will find the addition of the optional dedicated
battery grip make the Digital Rebel XT easier
to hold.
