Canon PowerShot A700

Canon PowerShot A700
Mouseover image for back view

Category: Beginner to Serious Amateur

The Canon PowerShot A700 is a new model in the PowerShot A series lineup and is equipped with a 6x optical zoom, which covers a 35mm film equivalent focal length ranging from 35 mm (Wide Angle) to 210 mm (Telephoto). It also has a real-image optical viewfinder that works with the 6x zoom.

The Canon A700 adds ISO 800 to allow the use of a faster shutter speed when shooting in low-light situations. Also, "High ISO Auto", which automatically increases the ISO speed setting beyond the selectable settings when needed, has been added to the ISO speed position.

Movies can be recorded VGA (640 x 480 pixels) at a full 30 fps and can be taken continuously until the clip size reaches 1GB or the clip length reaches 1 hour. Macro mode allows you to shoot a subject when the distance from the front of the lens to the subject is 1 cm (0.39 in.). It has a 2.5-inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with backlighting with lower power consumption and high brightness.

Various accessories sold separately, such as conversion lenses, are available. In addition, the High-Power Flash HF-DC1 (sold separately) that extends the range of flash shooting is available.

The Canon PowerShot A700 has full exposure flexibility and is feature-packed. It will grow with you as you learn more about digital photography.
