Category: Point-and-Shoot
The Canon PowerShot A580 features 8.0MP
resolution, 4x optical zoom with Image Stabilization, a F2.6 maximum aperture, and
a shutter speed range of 15-1/2,000 sec. It has a sophisticated styling with a nice grip that fits snugly into the hand. A low-contrast Pearly Silver finish combines with silver and chrome accents to give the A580 an elegant appeal.
An enhanced Face Detection system can select and track a face within a certain range. AF-Point Zoom allows you to zoom the display of the AF frame to check focus when shooting or right after taking a shot. Face Detection AF/AE/FE/WB detects a face, sets focus on the face, adjusts exposure, white balance and ensures the face is correctly illuminated when the flash fires. Red-Eye Correction automatically detects and corrects red eyes when the flash fires.
There is a large high-resolution 2.5-in. LCD screen
(115K dots). The Canon A580 allows you to shoot a clip of
640x480 movie at 20fps until the SD memory card
is full (4GB clips at a time or 1 hour of shooting).
Motion Detection Technology detects camera shake, brightness of subject and background, and movement of face and subject. By consolidating and analyzing these parameters, it adjusts the intelligent ISO speed to reduce the effects of camera shake and subject movement.
In Auto ISO, the camera favours a lower ISO to ensures the highest image quality. An Easy Mode is ideal for first time camera users and automate all settings, except it conveniently allows you to turn flash off, if flash photography is prohibited at the location you are shooting.
The Canon PowerShot A580 is appropriate for those looking for an affordable and easy-to-use point-and-shoot digital camera that is not too small but has a nice handgrip.
If you want a digital camera you can grow with as you learn more about digital cameras, for only about US $50 more, the Canon PowerShot A590 IS adds Image Stabilization, Shutter-Priority, Aperture-Priority mode, manual focus and accepts optional Tele Converter, Wide Converter and Close-up lens.
