The Canon PowerShot A1100 IS
is an entry-level digital camera for first-time photographers. Large size buttons and an orderly layout improve ease of operation for first-time users.
The PowerShot A1100 IS has 12.1MP resolution on a 1/2.3-in. image sensor,
4.0x optical zoom (35–140mm equiv.) with optical Image Stabilization, a F2.7 maximum aperture, and
a shutter speed range of 15-1/1,600 sec. The large 2.5-in. LCD has 115,000 dots
resolution.
Face Detection finds and tracks the faces of moving subjects. Exposure, flash and white balance are also set appropriately so that faces exhibit natural skin tones and backgrounds are properly exposed. In addition, a Face Detection Self-timer automatically detects an increase in the number of faces so there's no need to rush in. Intelligent Contrast Correction brightens dark areas in pictures.
Smart AUTO intelligently selects the proper settings for the camera based on 18 predefined shooting situations.
Movie can be shot in VGA (640 x 480 at 30 fps/30 fps LP) and QVGA (320 x 240 at 30 fps) for up to 1 hour or 4GB per clip.
The Print/Share button makes it easy to print directly to a PrintBridge-compatible photo printer and to transfer images to your PC. Print your own ID photos in 28 different sizes (optional paper cassette may be required) or use the Movie Print function to output multiple stills from a recorded movie on a single sheet with a Canon SELPHY Compact Photo Printer.
The Canon Powershot A1100 IS has easy-to-use features for the first-time entry-level photographers who desire an affordable point-and-shoot digital camera. It uses 2 AA-size batteries for convenience anywhere you go.
For about US $50 more, the PowerShot A2100 IS has similar specs and add a larger 3.0-in. 230,000 dots LCD and 6.0x optical zoom (36–216mm equiv.); however, it has a smaller F3.2 max. aperture and lacks an optical viewfinder.
